Trust me when I say I have lived my life as a fashion versus function type of person. Since suffering from back pain I now know the importance of making sure I am comfortable.  Today I want to share a photo of my new office chair! This chair inspired todays post. Since getting the chair, my body is so much happier! And I am happy to say I found a chair that not only feels great but looks good too.  

Now, there is a lot more involved in setting up your workstation than just chairs....

Have you heard the term text neck?  Text next is a repetitive use injury.  If you have frequent headaches, neck, shoulder or arm pain, you likely have text neck. 

I am sure you have heard "the human head weighs 10 pounds".  What you probably didn't know that as your head moves forward the weight of your head increases immensely. For example - If you angle your head by 30 degrees, it adds the equivalent of a 5 gallon water jug to your neck.  40 degrees it adds the weight...

Another reason to drink water

We all know we need to drink more water. It helps our skin, helps us lose weight, and... really that was enough for me.  But did you know that it can also help with back pain?

According to the article Hydration and Back Health, drinking water can be a great alternative to other methods of relieving back pain. 

I found it very interesting that we are 1/4 -1/2 inch shorter at the end of the day than when we wake up!! During the day our discs actually lose water.

Take a break!

How many of you actually take breaks at work? I know I am guilty of not stopping.  I have one friend who even told me she had to put an alarm on her watch to remind her to drink water and use the washroom!

Todays article is focused on the importance of taking active breaks.  I know some of you are thinking that you don't have time! But the truth is, breaks will make you more productive. And all you need to do is take 10 minute active breaks throughout the day. 

So this week try to take 10 minutes...

My partner and I read a lot of articles about back pain. We are going to start posting articles that we feel can benefit you on your road to nimble back.  

Today's article is about the necessity of movement.  To summarize, do NOT lay around and hope to get better.  Of course if you have an injury you should seek medical condition.  BUT - most acute back pain should be treated with movement. Example -Stretching on The Beam!
