Do you meditate? I have never tried. But I am willing to try anything to help me relax. I have 2 young children. Let me preface this by saying there are amazing kids and extremely well behaved most of the time. However, the excitement of Christmas has the energy up and the listening down.
A few months ago I heard about the app “Headspace” on the radio. They say they are like having a gym membership for your mind. They offer guided and unguided exercises from 2 minutes to an hour long. For free they offer a 10 day program to help you gain clarity and feel more calm. If you like it, then you sign up.
Meditation is proven to help with your energy level, reduce stress, calm your nerves, gain clarity, help with breathing, boost confidence, release tension, and the list goes on.
One of the reasons I have not tried meditation is because I can’t sit still. I recently found out there are different ways to meditate. You can do it while walking, dancing, doing tai-chi, or why not try it on The Beam by Nimbleback Inc.
As we get closer to Christmas, and our lives get more hectic, it is important to find ways to slow down and reset. I think tonight I will give meditation a try with my kids. We could all use the time to relax and I love that this is something we can do as a family. I found this helpful video that features a monkey who leads kids in a short meditation.
Less than 2 weeks to Christmas, I will try anything to help my kids calm down!
