You are what you eat. We have heard that one before. Eat junk, get fat But eat junk, get lower back pain?
I am a person who suffers from food allergies. It is terrible. I have to watch everything that goes into my body. I know what certain foods do to my stomach but I never thought about what foods do to my back. Foods can either trigger inflammation or they can help fight it. Below is a list of things you should and should not eat if you want to try managing back pain with food. For a more comprehensive list check out the full article.
EAT:
- Flax
- Chia
- Carrots
- Beets
- Sweet Potatoes
- Cherries
- Kale
- Spinach
- Avocado
- Omega 3 rich foods like coldwater fish
- Lean protein
AVOID:
- Nightshade Veggies
- Tomatoes
- White Potatoes
- Eggplant
- Peppers
- Processed foods
- Saturated Fats
Try an elimination diet for the nightshade vegetables. Take them all out for 2 weeks and then introduce them back one at a time for 2 weeks each to see how you feel. It sounds a lot harder than it is.
